from BARDO

The stars are in our belly; the Milky Way our umbilicus.

Is it a consolation that the stuff of which we’re made

is star-stuff too?

– That wherever you go you can never fully disappear –

dispersal only: carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen.

Tree, rain, coal, glow-worm, horse, gnat, rock.

human

How hard it is to love someone
with all my heart again;
the love letters I write these days
are to the wind and rain.

  2. A gem, Roselle. A sort of miniature sonnet. It's sad but not desolate and goes right to the heart. Is it significant that the wind and rain are constant?!
    Thanks and love, Miriam (again!)

  3. Both - thank you very much. Miriam - you're right, in that it's not really desolate - and you know in some ways it's also about yes indeed the constancy of the elemental cosmos - and placing depth, trust, in the wider higher aspects of our life rather than making another human carry the burden of being everything to us. Or something! Glad you could see that...

  5. Roz - thank you! Yes, I wasn't sad when I wrote it - just realised I'd passed through a doorway and it feels like a kind of relief! Does that make sense? - With love to you. Rx
